Compliance with
company law is crucial, especially as there are now nearly
30 offences for which company directors can go to jail. This
doesn't happen very often, but it's still important to
comply. The Registrar can - and does - impose fines on
companies which do not follow the law, or even strike them
off the register. It costs thousands of pounds to reverse
this.
At the moment, UK
companies are also required to have someone who undertakes the responsibilities
of a company secretary. They do not have to be namesd but it is always easier to
have that function carried out by a specialist.
